CAD/CAM Technology

Computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) significantly reduces the number of visits a patient has to make to their dentist in order to obtain brilliant brand-new teeth.

How to take a tooth size?

Each of our hospitals and Zdravna Grupa Estethica medical centers has access to a computer-assisted technology called CEREC©. This innovative technology enables the reconstruction of teeth in a single procedure.

The conventional method of taking measurements from teeth requires multiple visits to the dental clinic. Subsequently, measurements of the upper and lower jaws are taken using metal and plastic spoons that form the basis of the plaster material for the final prosthesis planning. Since the measurements are personalized, a separate spoon is made for each patient. In the next visit, the dentist meticulously plans the final details before creating the prototype of the prosthesis. This procedure typically requires an average of 4 to 5 visits before and after intervention.

The CEREC© technology, utilizing optical scanners that capture three-dimensional tooth impressions above a camera system, allows for immediate and precise digital impressions of teeth as well as visualizing the computer-generated positions of the teeth. With this technology, the patient can evaluate how their teeth will appear and the ultimate outcome of the procedure. A single-day visit to the dental clinic provides both comfort and precision in the aesthetic treatment.

When traditional plaster molds are used, the result of the prosthesis or implant becomes visible only after its placement. If there are changes that do not meet the patients' expectations, correcting the prosthesis can require additional time and resources.

Scanning all images on the screen of the CEREC device allows for the individual creation of each tooth based on patients' desires. Treatment and prosthetics are programmed in an electronic environment. The design is a synthesis of patients' expectations and the doctor's recommendations. The appearance of teeth and gums is determined with additional laser treatment.

Errors in taking molds can lead to incorrect production of the prosthesis. The success of the procedure relies on experience and the quality of the laboratory producing the prosthetics. Adaptation to prosthetics produced in this manner can lead to complications such as food retention between teeth and discomfort in patients.
